The Refugio County Community Center (map item ??) was the brain child of County Judge Ginger Fagan in the early 1980’s and was actually constructed shortly after her term of service. It sits on a parcel of land just north of the hospital.
Typically, the facility is used at least once a week for functions such as weddings, wedding receptions, the Refugio County Jamboree (see the Community Calendar), benefits to defray medical expenses, private parties, non-profit promotions, commercial promotions, conventions, family reunions, and other meetings.
The facility has more than adequate restrooms for large meetings, a nice kitchen area adjacent to the main foyer, and a huge open area where events are actually held. Spacious grounds provide adequate parking for even the most crowded events.
In addition to renting the entire complex for an event, smaller meeting rooms are also available. This is accomplished by partitioning the main hall into individual rooms by the means of sliding panels. The individual rooms are comfortable and completely isolated from adjoining rooms.
