The Linney House adjacent to the museum (map item 12) is not in the grand style of some of the other historic old homes in Refugio; however, it does show the type of home occupied by an average, prosperous family in the transition period between the 1800's and 1900's.

The Yucatan Soldiers's burial site is just a half block due west of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church (Map item 50). The Mexican soldiers commanded by General Urrea are buried very close to where they fell in the battle of Refugio, 1836.

The Spaniard De Pineda in 1519 was the first European to explore and chart this part of the Texas coast. He claimed the surrounding region for Spain. ...Enlarged view of the marker.

Site of the town of Copano, the first Texas seaport as early as the 1750's. This marker was moved from its original location on Copano Bay 5 miles to the northeast in 1978.
