The Refugio Manor
The "Manor" (Map item 43) is unique since it is independently owned and operated. All resident-care policies and procedures are directed by in house management rather than a corporation that would normally dictate policies based on financial considerations. The staff includes a core group of health care professionals with many years of experience in several diverse health care fields.

The "Manor" is conveniently located between the Refugio Rural Health Clinic and Refugio Memorial Hospital. Refugio Specialty Clinic is located just across the street. The proximity of these facilities gives ready access to diagnostic testing, laboratories, x-rays, and local physicians.

The Resident Council plays a major part in the daily lives of the residents, thanks in part, to the Resident Council President, Mr. Marvin Wickline. This young man is part of the culture change at the Manor. The age of people living in this facility has changed from just older citizens to a combination of both younger and older. Presently, the age range is from 98 to 31 years old. Mr. Wickline does an excellent job in bringing the various age groups together.
